What is Halal logistics?

The word halal, in Arabic, means permitted or lawful. Halal foods are foods that are allowed under Islamic dietary guidelines.

The MS2400, a Halalan Toyyiban Assurance Management System (2010), is the Malaysia Standards that stipulate operating standards and its requirements for the assurance of halal supply chain. These standards are applicable to manufacturers, transporters, logistics service providers; warehouse operators; and lastly the retail operators via its Part 1, Part 2 and Part 3 Standards respectively.

The emerging new halal logistics concepts and halal logistics certification has already been practiced in Malaysia for the domestic and halal global market. With the China’s “One Belt, One Road” concepts, it is predicted that it may incur a trend of new logistics development in Hong Kong for handling or processing the Halal food for the Islamic countries in The Silk Road Economic Belt.
