Objectives of Parent Education Talk

1. To enhance the awareness of the NCS parents on the importance of their children’s learning and mastery of the Chinese Language in further studies and career development;

2. To enhance NCS parents’ understanding of the Hong Kong education system and introduce the multiple pathways for NCS students;

3. To help NCS parents better support their children in learning and social aspects in collaboration with their schools.

Series III (Secondary school level)—— Includes 3 Sessions

*Includes 3 Sessions on March 9, April 13, April 20, 2024

*On Saturday afternoon, 14:00-16:00

*A Statement of Attendance will be issued to participants who have successfully attained the required attendance.

Session 1: Understanding of Adolescent Development from Age 12 to 18【March 9】

1. Understanding of adolescent development

2. Importance of whole-person development

3. Practicing positive parenting

4. Effective communication skills with your child

Session 2: Practical Ways in Supporting Your Teenage Child to Enhance Physical and Psychological Well-being【April 13】

1.  Learning about psychological health of adolescents

2. Discussion of rebellious behaviour or depressive-like behaviour

3. Healthy lifestyle (e.g., Internet addiction, smoking)

3. Understanding life planning, career planning and job exploration

Session 3: Exploration of Multiple Pathways for Study and Career 【April 20】

1. Understanding local education system, public examination and multiple pathways

2. Understanding life planning, career planning and job exploration

3. Role of parents in supporting children’s further development

4. Acceptance of alternative qualifications in Chinese Language for JUPAS admission

5. Experience/case sharing by the NCS parents
