This programme is based on the syllabus for the Private Pilot's Licence (Aeroplanes) published by the Civil Aviation Safety Authority (CASA) of the Australian Government. It contains four articulated modules which will lead to the Private Pilot Licence (PPL) level of training. Industry graded flight simulator is available for students' practice (with Aeroplane model Cessna C172) throughout the programme.

本課程旨在培育私人飛機師專業人材,課程根據澳洲政府民航安全局(CASA)發出的私人飛行員執照(飛機)(PPL)的大綱而設計,包含空氣動力學、飛機結構、航例、飛行操作、導航及氣象學等理論。課程由專業導師任教,並採用模擬Cessna C172飛機機型的飛行模擬器進行培訓。

Students who have completed all four modules (70% Attendance) plus a pass in each module assessment within 36 months will be awarded a Certificate in Australian Private Pilot License Training by HKU SPACE. The course is jointly organized by Hong Kong Flight Training Centre (www.hkftc.com).

This programme contains 4 articulated modules which will lead to a Private Pilot Licence (PPL) level of training.

(A2) Recreational Pilot Licence (RPL) Module
(Pre-requisite: First Solo Module)

With an Australian RPL licence, students may carry passengers to fly in designated areas where they have been trained. This module will focus more on specific topics that are required for qualified solo flying and prepare students to attend the Basic Aeronautical Knowledge (BAK).

(B1) Navigation & Meteorology Module

This module will cover two essential topics – navigation & meteorology – for obtaining the full PPL.

Class venue
  • Theory class: Centre at HK Island (Fortress Tower Learning Centre (Fortress Hill), Island East Campus (North Point) or HPCC Campus (Causeway Bay))
  • Simulation practice class: Fortress Tower Learning Centre (Fortress Hill)
  • Students will be informed the class venue 2 weeks before the class starts.

Applicants shall have gained:

  • Level 2 in English Language in the HKDSE Examination;
    OR 
  • Level 2 in English Language in the HKCEE in or after 2007;
    OR
  • Grade E in English Language (Syllabus B) or Grade C in English Language (Syllabus A) in HKCEE before 2007.
  • Applicants with other equivalent qualifications will be considered on individual merit.
Course Fee
  • HK$4100 per module
  • HK$7460 (Package enrollment for two modules in Part A (A1 + A2) or Part B (B1 + B2))
  • HK$800 (Learning package for Part A - RPL Pilot Instruction Kit. Fee should be submitted to tutor in the 1st lesson of First Solo Module)
  • HK$1480 (Learning package for Part B - PPL Pilot Instruction Kit. Fee should be submitted to tutor in the 1st lesson of Navigation and Meteorology Module)

Enrolment Method

Applicants should submit following items to any HKU SPACE Enrollment Centers:

-- Proof of qualifications (1 photocopy) (Please bring along the original copy for vertification)

Application for Module Exemption

Applicants must:
-- completed related theory training and/or practice flight training 
    Supporting documents must be provided
   (e.g. certificate of theory training and log book of practice flight training)
-- submit application to programme team by email (clara.wong@hkuspace.hku.hk) before class's application deadline
-- submit application fee: HK$500 per module (Max. 2 modules, non-refundable)
-- attend and pass a test for related module

Payment Method
1. Cash or EPS

Cash or EPS are accepted at any HKU SPACE Enrolment Centres.

2. Cheque or bank draft

Course fees can also be paid by crossed cheque or bank draft made payable to “HKU SPACE”. Please write the programme title(s)  and the applicant’s name on the back of the cheque. You may either:

  • in person by submitting the payment, completed form(s), and required supporting documents to any of our enrolment centres; or
  • by mailing the above documents to any of our enrolment centres, specifying “Course Application” on the envelope. 
3. VISA/MasterCard

Course applicants, who are holders of HKU SPACE MasterCard, can enjoy a 10-month interest-free instalment period for courses of HK$2,000 and over. For enquiries, please contact our enrolment centres.

4. Online payment

Online payment for short courses (first come, first served) and selected award-bearing programmes is available using PPS, VISA or MasterCard. Please refer to the Online Services page on the School website.

Notes

  1. For general and short courses, applicants may be required to pay the course fee in cash or by EPS, Visa or MasterCard if the course is to start shortly.
  2. Fees paid are not refundable except under very exceptional circumstances (e.g. course cancellation due to insufficient enrolment), subject to the School’s discretion. In exceptional cases where a refund is approved, fees paid by cash, EPS, cheque or online PPS will be reimbursed by a cheque; fees paid by credit card will be reimbursed to credit card account used for payment.
  3. In addition to the published fees, there may be additional costs associated with individual programmes. Please refer to the relevant course brochures or direct any enquiries to the relevant programme teams for details.
  4. Fees and places on courses are not transferrable. Once accepted onto a course, the student may not change to another course without approval from HKU SPACE. A processing fee of HK$120 will be levied on each approved transfer.
  5. HKU SPACE will not be responsible for any loss of payment, receipt, or personal information sent by mail.
  6. For additional copies of receipts, please aubmit a completed form, a sufficiently stamped and self-addressed envelope, and a crossed cheque for HK$30 per copy made payable to ‘HKU SPACE’ to any of our enrolment centres. Such copies will normally be issued at the end of a course.
