This follow-on 18-hour short course focuses on the strategies and language for producing effective emails for the workplace. In addition to practice on correct grammar, sentence structure, appropriate style and editing, lessons are centred on a variety of business email writing contexts such as marketing, human resources or publicity.
This course is specifically designed for ESL/EFL/EAL teachers and learners to improve their skills in crafting written texts effectively for academic, business and research purposes. It will use product-focused, process-oriented and genre-based approaches to help participants produce quality texts that can conform to academic and workplace requirements, genre conventions, rhetorical structures and discoursal features. The writing instructor will help students conduct rhetorical analysis of model texts in educational, vocational and research literature and scaffold them to write collaboratively and independently. Constructive feedback and practical suggestions will be provided to individual writing products on content, structure and language
Grammar is the backbone of English and without it, the meanings and functions of the language are completely lost. This course introduces to ESL/EFL/EAL teachers, students and professionals the comprehensive knowledge of English syntactic structures in terms of Functional and Prescriptive Grammar. Applying syntactic rules correctly can facilitate both spoken and written communications, efficient negotiation of complex meanings, and effective analysis of English rhetoric for academic and vocational purposes. The emphasis is on using grammar not just as a set of rules but also as the functions of communication in terms of field, tenor and mode
Students under the age of 18 at the time of admission to the School have to submit the signed parent/guardian consent form (either English or Chinese version) to the School upon submitting their application and/or before the Programme / Course commences.
This course will increase your ability to:
- Genuinely connect with customer needs
- Authentically communicate with your customers with your priorities in mind to attain your objectives
