Western Art

The School offers various part-time courses in Western Art including Art History, Drawing, Painting, Watercolour Painting, Figure and Portrait Drawing, and Photography. Apart from short courses, students who wish to have a basic understanding of Art and Design may enrol in Certificate in Foundation Art and Design or Diploma in Visual Arts.

The Western Art courses are taught by artists and academics with extensive experiences and great passion in arts education. We offer various courses with an aim to equip students with the essential artistic knowledge and skills as well as to develop their sense of aesthetics.

This course will provide you with a thorough understanding of the major theoretical, methodological and professional themes at the forefront of contemporary museum studies. It will equip you with the practical and theoretical experience needed to become a creative and effective museum and gallery professional or to further advance your career in the sector.

The course is designed to be flexible, so you can choose when to study. It offers carefully designed teaching material and reading which offer flexibility and allow you to fit your study around other commitments. These materials are delivered through online resources in the University’s virtual learning environment, Blackboard. This includes recorded lectures, international case studies of museum practice, guided readings, group discussions and self-led activities to support your learning.

本課程旨在加強學員對塑膠彩人體寫生的認識和技法,掌握如何運用塑膠彩去表現人體的骨骼結構、肌肉質感、人體與空間的關係等。學員亦可嘗試結合自身的藝術素質和美學觸覺,創造具有個人風格和特色的人體藝術,並學習欣賞和評價塑膠彩人體寫生作品。

This programme aims to provide a basic understanding of art and design for beginners and those who have some knowledge of art to develop their artistic skills and creative ability. Students are to choose 5 modules from our regular programme and complete special assignments.

受上世紀初達達藝術的啓發,60年代的藝術家建立了形形色色的表現手法;有概念藝術、地景藝術、行為藝術、媒體藝術等等,令當代藝術的發展走向多元化,強調創新和標奇立異,作品甚至不容易被理解。本課程介紹過去50年來,各項藝術表現風格的特色,並通過對歐洲及美國藝術作品的分析,瞭解當代藝術的創作意念及近年的發展面貌。課程教學語言為粵語,輔以英文教材。

「攝影」由誕生發展至數碼年代,歷經科技變革﹑新媒體出現﹑審美改變,它的定義和邊界變得越來越複雜模糊。此課程探討「攝影」的故事,包括攝影起源﹑前衛藝術和藝術商業化的議題,細看攝影師在創作的過程中如何擴闊「攝影」的可能性,去重塑﹑甚至重新定義「攝影」這回事。

This course is for beginners and those who have some experience. It will help students see as artists see, engage all their senses and enable them to draw expressively. Topics include: hatching; pure, modified and cross contours; value and tones; texture and volume; proportion and composition. Students have to bring their own tools and materials to class, and will be advised of the details by email three days before the course starts.
