Western Art

The School offers various part-time courses in Western Art including Art History, Drawing, Painting, Watercolour Painting, Figure and Portrait Drawing, and Photography. Apart from short courses, students who wish to have a basic understanding of Art and Design may enrol in Certificate in Foundation Art and Design or Diploma in Visual Arts.

The Western Art courses are taught by artists and academics with extensive experiences and great passion in arts education. We offer various courses with an aim to equip students with the essential artistic knowledge and skills as well as to develop their sense of aesthetics.

The Postgraduate Diploma in Humanities Programme offers a vital learning experience for third agers who are brought together by intellectual curiosity and need for quality life education. The modules are designed to expose students to interdisciplinary inquiry in the humanities, with a view to helping them achieve a ‘renaissance’ of the mind, a rediscovery of the self and the world, of culture and society, and of the meaning of life.

This is an introduction to the techniques, materials, composition, colour theory and vocabulary of visual presentation in the medium of watercolour painting. This course studies the major channels for art transactions from both the buyside and sell-side perspectives. It also looks into how art businesses are run and how art collection and investment are executed. There are field trips to commercial art establishments, such as galleries, auction houses, art fairs, etc., with a focus to provide students with practitioners’ points of view of the art business sector.
