HKU SPACE: Invaluable Skills for Becoming a US Paralegal

Very lucky I had the opportunity to study law at HKU SPACE on the CPE.

“I feel very lucky I had the opportunity to study law at HKU SPACE on the CPE. Firstly because of the subject matter, which was both challenging and fascinating. Secondly because I had wonderful colleagues from many different life experiences and age groups. Thirdly because studying law at HKU SPACE gave me access to not just the best law library in Hong Kong, but also all of HKU’s other wide network of libraries as well.

When I arrived back in the U.S., I took a position as a paralegal in US immigration law. My studies at HKU SPACE on the CPE were invaluable in giving me the analytical and legal writing skills that have been my strength in this work over the past 15 years. Learning British English legal writing was a wonderful mental exercise which has applications far beyond my daily work. And my studies at HKU SPACE also contributed to my understanding of international legal protocols, which is a big advantage in immigration law.”
