This workshop provides a comprehensive overview of the key rules and procedures governing both civil and criminal litigation in Hong Kong.
In the civil procedure component, participants will gain familiarity with litigation procedures governing common causes of action arising from contract and tort. The course will also develop practical skills in drafting basic pleadings, affidavits, and letters of advice, with an emphasis on clarity, structure, and legal accuracy.
In the criminal procedure component, participants will be expected to demonstrate a solid understanding of, and ability to apply, the rules of practice and procedure relevant to criminal proceedings in Hong Kong. The course will focus on equipping students with the procedural knowledge necessary for effective advocacy and case management in criminal matters.
The workshop comprises a total of 36 instructional hours, delivered through twelve sessions of three hours each. These sessions will be conducted on an intensive basis during October and November.
The first nine sessions will be structured as knowledge seminars, focusing on key examinable topics in Civil and Criminal Procedure Head of the OLQE — such as summary judgment, sanctioned payment, interlocutory injunction, costs, bail, mitigation. The final three sessions will consist of mock examinations and detailed review sessions, designed to consolidate understanding and enhance exam readiness.
