OLQE Workshop (Head II - Civil and Criminal Procedure)

This workshop offers a comprehensive overview of the principal rules and procedures governing both civil and criminal litigation in Hong Kong.

In the civil procedure module, participants will become familiar with litigation processes for common causes of action arising from contract and tort. The module also develops practical skills in drafting basic pleadings, affidavits and letters of advice, with emphasis on clarity, organisation and legal accuracy. In the criminal procedure module, participants are expected to demonstrate a firm grasp of — and the ability to apply — the rules of practice and procedure relevant to criminal proceedings in Hong Kong. The module focuses on equipping students with the procedural knowledge required for effective advocacy and case management in criminal matters. Special emphasis is placed on key examinable topics in the Civil and Criminal Procedure Head of the OLQE, including summary judgment, sanctioned payments, interlocutory injunctions, costs, bail and mitigation.

The workshop comprises a total of 48 instructional hours, delivered through 16 sessions of three hours each. These seminars will be structured as knowledge seminars with tutorials. These sessions will be conducted on a bi-weekly basis from July to October on Saturday afternoons. We offer at least two complimentary revision sessions (including a mock examination) on the weekend immediately before the examination date, designed to consolidate knowledge and boost exam readiness.
