Social Sciences Special Education and Mental Health

The Special Education and Mental Health Programmes are dedicated to nurturing professionals equipped with specialist knowledge, practical competencies, and a strong sense of social responsibility. These programmes aim to support individuals with diverse learning, developmental, and mental health needs, while responding to the growing societal demand for inclusive education, mental health promotion, crisis intervention, and effective communication.

As public awareness of Special Educational Needs (SEN), mental health, social welfare, and community support continues to increase, educators, social workers, healthcare and rehabilitation practitioners, frontline professionals, parents, and individuals aspiring to enter related professions are all required to continuously enhance their professional knowledge and practical skills in order to meet the evolving needs of service users and the changing social environment.

This subject area offers a diverse range of forward-looking and practice-oriented programmes covering special education, mental health, social welfare, crisis management, suicide prevention, and communication strategies. Integrating theoretical foundations with practical applications, the programmes incorporate authentic case studies, expert sharing sessions, experiential learning activities, and professional skills training to help participants keep abreast of the latest developments in the field and acquire effective intervention strategies.
