With the outbreak of Covid-19 epidemic since Dec 2019, Hong Kong has suffered several waves of infections during the past one and a half years. The sporadic cases continue to appear without any sign of ending. As a result, a slew of people suspended their travels to other places, visited to friends and relatives, and reduced their frequency of hanging out such as dining out, going to theatres and singing Karaoke. People were even on tenterhooks during their daily work and lives, causing them to be exhausted both physically and mentally for a long time. However, the fighting spirit of Hong Kong people has not diminished yet. There is an increasing number of people choosing to exercise at home and focusing on a healthy diet. Everyone is preparing to meet a better self after the pandemic, as they are actively improving their physical health.
With the vaccination launched, the epidemic is expected to be effectively and gradually controlled, showing a preliminary sign of victory. However, is the vaccine a once-for-all recipe? What else can we do besides the vaccination?
As Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) emphasizes that “When there is sufficient healthy qi inside, pathogenic factors have no way to invade the body”, how can we learn the relationship between the epidemic and the lung? And how can we employ the simple, practical, and workable approaches of TCM to protect the lung from the Covid-19 virus and build up our healthy qi? Let us find the answers.
