In this talk, Dr Sunny Cheung will touch on some recent technologies related to medical screening tests. In the past ten years, technology for molecular testing has been advancing. The sample size to be handled have been increasing where the cost of the test have been reduced overall.  An example of this is in non-invasive prenatal testing  (NIPT) technology. It has been a trend that newly developed tests have bias towards molecular technology, which seems to provide more information in assisting diagnostic purposes. Dr Cheung will also discuss the  current and future challenges of the medical lab and the chances for Medical Laboratory Technologists.
