HKU SPACE and Google Cloud Hong Kong (Google Cloud HK) today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to embark on a comprehensive strategic collaboration, jointly accelerating AI-driven digital transformation across teaching and learning (T&L), curriculum development, and institutional operations. This partnership marks a pivotal milestone in HKU SPACE’s AI education roadmap and reinforces its commitment to advancing lifelong learning opportunities for the community.
The MoU was signed by Professor William K.M. Lee, Director of HKU SPACE, and Mr Ricky Kwok, Head of Field Sales, Google Cloud Hong Kong, in the presence of senior management representatives from both organisations.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Professor William K. M. Lee of HKU SPACE, stated, “As a trailblazer in continuing education, HKU SPACE has consistently leveraged technology to drive innovation, making ‘Embracing Technology’ a key strategic direction of our 2025–2030 Strategic Plan. Our collaboration with Google Cloud HK marks a significant milestone in our digital transformation journey, enabling us to leverage world-class AI technology to enhance teaching and learning, streamline operations, and empower data analytics for quality enhancement. We look forward to working closely with Google Cloud HK to deliver innovative, accessible, and future-ready lifelong learning opportunities for the community.”

Under this agreement, HKU SPACE and Google Cloud HK will collaborate across four strategic pillars to redefine the educational experience:
· Deployment of Google’s leading AI tools: Rolling out Gemini Enterprise for Education to staff and students to enhance T&L efficiency and foster a personalised learning environment.
· Comprehensive digital transformation in AI education: Technical integration of Gemini Enterprise into the HKU SPACE’s e-learning portal (SOUL) for AI-assisted T&L; establishment of a Google Cloud AI Lab to nurture student-led innovation; introduction of an HKU SPACE x Google AI Prompt Library to provide systematic, high-quality AI resources for staff and students.
· Programme and curriculum development: Collaborating on AI-centric course development and curriculum integration, ensuring alignment with industry and technological trends; providing technical guidance for prototyping AI solutions that address real-world challenges.
· Talent development and co-branded engagement: Enhancing learners’ ability to apply AI tools through professional training and certification sessions facilitated by Google experts; amplifying impact through promotional activities at flagship events such as the HKU SPACE Open Day and Google Cloud Leaders Connect.
