HKU SPACE has been offering preparatory courses for the Hong Kong Conversion Examination for PCLL Admission since 2007.  The Online Preparatory Courses now being offered aim at preparing candidates for taking “Top-up Subjects” – Hong Kong Legal System and Hong Kong Constitutional Law in the Examinations.

These online courses, will be taught by Mr. Denis Edwards, an experienced law academic and legal practitioner, who has previously taught Hong Kong Constitutional Law/Hong Kong Legal System and has recently completed a three-year term as an examiner for the Conversion Examination.  The course will be delivered live via Virtual Classroom to give more flexibility to students and allow for more interaction in their learning, while keeping the same high standard and effectiveness. Revision of past papers and examiner’s reports will form an important part of the course.  Updates in relation to the changing legal environment will also be provided.

What is Hong Kong Conversion Examination for PCLL Admission?

Intending candidates holding non-Hong Kong law degrees or equivalent qualifications acceptable for the Hong Kong Postgraduate Certificate in Laws (PCLL) admission are required to demonstrate their competence in nine Core Subjects (starting from the admission in 2021/22 academic year) and three Top-up Subjects, as prescribed by the Standing Committee on Legal Education and Training, before they are eligible to apply for the PCLL programmes offered by the three local law schools.   Competences in some of these Core Subjects - Commercial Law (Parts A, B and C); Evidence; Business Associations -- missing from a candidate’s law qualification curriculum and in the three required Top-up Subjects - Hong Kong Constitutional Law; Hong Kong Legal System; Hong Kong Land Law - can be obtained by passing the relevant subjects in the Hong Kong Conversion Examination for PCLL Admission.
