Professor Stamenka UVALIĆ-TRUMBIĆ

Former Head of Higher Education Section (UNESCO) 
Former Senior Adviser for International Affairs to the Council for Higher Education Accreditation (USA)

Following her service as Secretary-General of the Association of Universities of Yugoslavia, Stamenka Uvalić-Trumbić began a 20-year career in UNESCO in 1990, working in its European Centre for Higher Education (CEPES) in Bucharest before moving to Paris to lead its global work on higher education reform, innovation and quality assurance as Chief of Section for Higher Education. She has facilitated numerous international collaborative projects (e.g. the Lisbon Recognition Convention, the Guidelines on Quality Provision in Cross-border Higher Education, the Global Initiative for Quality Assurance Capacity-Building for developing countries - GIQAC, in partnership with the World Bank) and served as Executive Secretary to the 2009 World Conference on Higher Education. That same year she was voted International Higher Education Professional of the Year by her peers worldwide. She was also project officer for the UNESCO Congress on OER (Open Educational Resources), which adopted the 2012 Paris OER Declaration. She was Senior Advisor for International Affairs to CHEA (Council for Higher Education Accreditation, USA) from 2012 to 2020, leading the activities of the CHEA International Quality Group; Honorary Member of the International Advisory Board of the Shanghai Jiao Tong Academic Rankings of World Universities (ARWU) (2011-ongoing); Education Master at the DeTao Masters Academy (Shanghai, China) (until 2019) and consultant to UNESCO. Her activities include global trends in higher education with particular focus on quality assurance of innovative providers. She studied at the University of Belgrade and the Sorbonne Nouvelle, Université Paris III.

Grahame Bilbow received his professorship in English Linguistics at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University in 2000. After leaving Hong Kong in 2005, he spent several years as First Secretary for Education and British Council Director of English for China at the British Embassy in Beijing, before moving to the UK in 2011 as Assistant Director of the Higher Education Academy. In 2013, he returned to Hong Kong, and spent seven years as Director of the Centre for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning at the University of Hong Kong. Grahame’s PhD is in intercultural communication, and he has published numerous books, chapters and journal articles relating to the English language, as well as Teaching and Learning in Higher Education. Over his many years in higher education, he has conducted numerous teacher training programmes and workshops, served on several audit panels, and contributed to strategic planning at institutions in the UK, the Middle East and the Far East. He is a Principal Fellow of the HEA/ AdvanceHE in the UK, and a fellow of the Chartered Institute of Linguists and The Royal Society of Arts. He also serves on the Editorial Board of the Asian Journal of the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning. Grahame is Co-Founder and Director of Grange Education, an educational consultancy which provides services to universities, colleges and schools working to raise their educational standards to an international benchmark.
