This programme aims to empower violin and viola instructors with a comprehensive understanding of string pedagogy, enhancing their teaching effectiveness and stimulating their pedagogical creativity. It incorporates a study of traditional methods, along with an exploration of globally developed and adopted string teaching philosophies. The curriculum is strategically sequenced to establish fundamental violin and viola techniques, addressing potential challenges in teaching. Rather than subscribing to a single methodology, the programme aspires to furnish teachers with a versatile pedagogical toolkit, fostering early musicianship, enabling individualized learning plans, and nurturing teaching sensitivity. The programme is designed to be adaptable to varied repertoires, including those featured in common performance exams like the ABRSM, considering the specific demands of music education in Hong Kong.
