Mr. OKADA Kenichi
Mr. OKADA serves as the Consul-General (Ambassador) of Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong. He promotes Japan and Japanese culture though various events and campaigns, such as "the Japan Autumn Festival in Hong Kong".

Mr TK Tan has extensive experience in teaching Japanese language and culture. He is in charge of part-time Asian language programmes at the College of Humanities and Law, HKU SPACE.

The Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong was established in 1873, and it has a rich history spanning nearly 150 years. We are honored to have Mr. OKADA Kenichi, Consul-General (Ambassador) of the Consulate-General of Japan in Hong Kong, as the keynote speaker for this year’s Open Space.
Ambassador OKADA Kenichi joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan in 1988. The following year, he participated in a summer language course at the Chinese University of Hong Kong. His illustrious career includes serving as Consul-General in Chicago, United States and postings in cities such as Beijing, Shanghai, Taipei, Seoul and Washington DC. In 2021, Ambassador Okada assumed the role of Consul-General of Japan in Hong Kong.
During his keynote speech, Ambassador Okada will share with us his experiences as a diplomat and provide glimpse into his life in Hong Kong. If you are interested in Japanese Culture and Japan, we warmly invite you to join us.
