There were several fatal tree accidents in the recent decade, and each sad accident raised public concerns about the safety of trees. Are urban trees dangerous? This talk aims to use tree failure cases in Hong Kong to review the risk associated with trees to answer the title question. The basic knowledge about identifying trees with higher risk will also be introduced. It is expected that by enhancing tree-related knowledge, we can better understand how trees tackle different environmental challenges and have better confidence in trees.
