Thinking about a legal career but not sure where to begin—or worried you’re “starting from zero”? This talk maps out the fastest, clearest route from non-law background to a full law degree and professional practice. We will break down the key milestones: what a “qualifying” law degree means, the typical pathways to becoming a lawyer, and how different study modes (full-time, part-time, local or overseas programmes) affect timeline, cost and flexibility. You will also learn how to build a competitive profile early—through smart subject choices, internships, legal experience, and skills that law schools and employers actually value. Common myths and misunderstandings about recognition, progression and career prospects will be addressed with practical guidance. Whether you are a secondary school graduate, a university student planning a switch, or a working professional considering a career change, you will leave with a step-by-step roadmap and a realistic plan to move from “zero” to law graduate—and onward to practice.
