Young children often encounter a range of challenges when learning Chinese. Accordingly, early childhood educators and parents may explore more effective ways to support children’s language development. Children’s progress in Chinese language learning is closely associated with multiple dimensions of language awareness, including phonological awareness, morphological awareness, vocabulary knowledge, and syntactic awareness. These competencies facilitate the development of decoding processes that underpin language acquisition and emergent literacy, thereby enabling children to learn Chinese more effectively.
This seminar presents practical instructional strategies and evidence-based approaches to integrating language awareness into classroom practice, and to designing developmentally appropriate learning activities and teaching resources. Through structured input and guided activities, teachers and parents can help children consolidate foundational Chinese learning skills, progressively develop listening, speaking, reading, and writing abilities, and establish a robust basis for subsequent language and literacy development.
