The University of Leicester has partnered with the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) to enable MBA students to obtain dual qualifications for their studies. Entry Requirements

Business and Management Programme

Master of Business Administration
 

  • a good UK honours degree or equivalent or an acceptable professional qualification;

or

  • a postgraduate degree or diploma from a recognised institution;

and

  • satisfy the University's English Language Requirements (e.g. IELTS 6.5 (7.0 in writing preferred); 90 (IBT); the University of Leicester English Language Test);

  • at least three years’ relevant work experience in a supervisory, managerial or professional role(s) (for MBA applicants only)

 

For MBA applicants who cannot fully meet the standard entry requirements but they satisfy the University's English Language Requirements and have five or more years of relevant work experience, applicants will require one of the following:

  • Completion of the MBA Admissions Assessment: this is a 400 word online essay completed in 1 hour which asks applicants to reflect on their relevant work experience and consider how the programme will benefit them. Applicants will then be invited to a 30 minutes welcome conversation via Skype with the MBA Director in which their essay with be discussed; 

or

  • A GMAT score of 550+ within the past 5 years. For information on taking GMAT, please see www.mba.com/global

 

Human Resource Management Programmes

Doctor of Social Science

  • a UK undergraduate (Bachelors) degree with at least first class or upper second class honours. The undergraduate qualification should normally be in a subject relevant to the subject of the PhD/MPhil;

and

  • evidence of a relevant Master’s degree, preferably at distinction level, together with a detailed outline of your initial research proposal. The validity and quality of the proposal will be of crucial significance in determining eligibility for entry;

or

  • an equivalent qualification from a recognised overseas institution;

and

MSc Human Resource Management and Training

  • a good UK honours degree in a relevant field or equivalent;

or

  • an approved professional qualification with three years or more suitable professional experience;

and

  • satisfy the University's English Language Requirements (e.g. IELTS 6.5; 90 (IBT); the University of Leicester English Language Test).

BSc in Human Resource Management

  • Completion of the University of Leicester Diploma in Human Resource Management or Lifelong Learning and Industrial Relations (achieving an average of at least 45% overall);

or

  • an equivalent University of Leicester qualification (e.g. foundation degree); 

or

  • the University of Leicester will consider equivalent qualifications (in level and content) to the Diploma. Please note that the University of Leicester can only consider qualifications taken within the past five years from reputable academic institutions;

and

  • satisfy the University's English Language Requirements (e.g. IELTS 6.5; 90 (IBT); the University of Leicester English Language Test).

 

Museum Studies Programmes

Master of Arts / Master of Science /
Postgraduate Diploma /  Postgraduate Certificate in Museum Studies

  • a first or second class honours degree or equivalent, from a recognised university, together with evidence of engagement with, or commitment to, the museum/gallery/heritage sector (or appropriate transferable skills); 
    (The University of Leicester will consider candidates without an honours degree who have significant relevant work experience; applicants may be required to complete a written assessment as part of the application.)

and

  • satisfy the University's English Language Requirements (e.g. IELTS 6.5; 90 (IBT); the University of Leicester English Language Test).

 

English Language Requirement

If your first language is not English, you will need to satisfy the University’s English Language Requirement. For example:

  • IELTS 6.5; or

  • 90 (IBT); or

  • The University of Leicester English Language Test.
