Raymond Lai
Adjunct Lecturer, HKU SPACE.
Dr Lai received his Ph.D. in Neurophysiology from The University of Hong Kong in 1999. He joined the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine of The University of Hong Kong in 2000 as an Honorary Assistant Professor and as a Lecturer. He is the author or co-author of more than 40 papers in high-impact factors journals and more than 70 conference contributions. His research interest is about the study of development and regeneration during cellular plasticity using a variety of approaches such as gene manipulation, pharmacological or surgical interventions.
In addition to research, Dr Lai has been involved in teaching physiology and pharmacology to medical and nursing students for more than 20 years, and providing professional service or teaching to various societies and grant institutions such as the Hospital Authority of Hong Kong and the CDC-HKEAA Committee on Biology. He is also an Adjunct Lecturer in HKU SPACE since 2009. He teaches part-time students a broad range of biomedical topics including human physiology, disease processes and their treatment, clinical microbiology and scientific writing. He has achieved Outstanding Teaching Awards in HKUSPACE in 2022.
