The Government announced on January 4, 2021 that since the situation of COVID-19 is still severe, all kindergartens, primary and secondary schools (including special schools and schools offering non-local curriculum) as well as schools offering non-formal curriculum (tutorial schools) will continue the suspension of face-to-face classes and school activities after 10 January 2021. The suspension will continue until the beginning of schools' Chinese New Year holidays. Therefore, SSP Chinese classes will be conducted online until the beginning of Chinese New Year holidays.
This programme, also called the Student Support Programme (SSP), is commissioned by Education Bureau to support non-Chinese speaking (NCS) students who are attending local primary and secondary schools to learn Chinese effectively so that they can be well equipped for further studies and prospective careers.
Classes can be held either at school or HKU SPACE learning centres on weekdays after schools or Saturday mornings. Details are to be discussed.
By teaching and revisiting vocabulary, grammar and expressions from the Primary and Secondary School curriculum, this programme helps Primary 1 to Secondary 6 non-Chinese speaking students with their study of the Chinese language.
Nil. Students are recruited by Education Bureau from local primary and secondary schools.
