Highlights

The hospitals and clinics do not only reply on the healthcare professionals (i.e. doctors, nurses, laboratory technologists, and etc.) to take care the patients, but also the skilled engineers and technicians who can maintain and repair hospital facilities. Hospitals rely on well-maintained facilities for reliable functions to support the clinical diagnoses and treatments as well as patient safety. Competent technicians are crucial to prevent equipment failures that could impact patient care. Moreover, trained technicians can perform preventive maintenance, reducing downtime and costly emergency repairs. This benefits hospitals financially.

In Hong Kong, the Health Sector Divisions of Electrical and Mechanical Services Department (EMSD) maintain and operate the hospital engineering systems for the Hospital Authority, the Department of Health, the Government Laboratory, and the Prince Philip Dental Hospital. A  diploma programme with balanced theoretical knowledge and skills in hospital equipment operation and maintenance for the technical staff  will enhance their core competencies in hospital engineering service for public health.

This programme is not for open recruitment for the time being.
