- A Message from the College Head to UoL LLB Students
Dear University of London LLB students,
As a former University of London (UoL) law student myself, I have firsthand experience of both the academic rigor and the high professional standing of the UoL law programmes. And I’m delighted to share some outstanding news about the achievements of your peers on this programme and to reaffirm its strength.
Warm congratulations to the HKU SPACE students who achieved the world’s Top 10 results across three modules this year. Over the past three years, students studying for the UoL LLB via HKU SPACE have celebrated seven of the world’s Top 3 placements. With more than 190 Recognised Teaching Centres worldwide and thousands of students studying the UoL LLB, these are exceptional results. The UoL LLB requires students to complete either 9 or 12 modules; students at HKU SPACE have achieved top rankings in 10 different modules—an excellent record that shows you are competing, and succeeding, at the very highest level globally. This reflects your hard work, resilience, and excellence—and I hope will be a source of encouragement to those of you currently preparing for your exams. Keep up the good work and I’m sure we will see many more such excellent results!
I understand that some information recently posted online may have prompted questions about the status and value of the UoL LLB. Speaking as a UoL law alumni with a personal interest in this matter, please let me reassure you about a few key points:
- You are fully registered UoL law students studying through HKU SPACE’s Recognised Teaching Centre. Successful completion of your studies leads to an LLB degree awarded directly by the University of London.
- This means that you have equal standing and career pathways with both students studying at the UoL in London and on other comparable law programmes here in Hong Kong and around the world.
- The UoL LLB is a rigorous, globally respected qualification with strong academic foundations and clear progression pathways. Many graduates have gone on to further study (including the PCLL and other postgraduate routes) and into diverse careers.
- Our teaching team is dedicated to your success. They combine academic depth with practical insight and proven experience preparing students for UoL assessments, providing clear explanations, constructive feedback, and supportive guidance.
To help you maintain momentum, please make full use of:
- Revision sessions, past papers, and exam skills workshops
- Q&A sessions on the VLE
- Research and writing support
- Careers and progression advice (including guidance on PCLL and other routes)
Going forward we will ensure that our communications reflect the programme’s high status and the wide range of opportunities available to you. If you have any questions about modules, progression routes, or recognition of the programme, please reach out to your course leader Ms. Tiffany Kwong—we are here to support you.
Please join me in congratulating your peers on their achievements and I look forward to more outstanding results from your cohort. The UoL LLB opens doors, and your results continue to demonstrate world-class competitiveness.
With best wishes for the term ahead,
Danny Gittings
