Microcredentials

A digital badge is a visual representation of your achievements, skill, quality or interest. The award of a microcredential will be represented by a digital badge. If you complete a sufficient number of microcredentials to qualify for a certificate or diploma, then this will be awarded both as a digital badge and as a formal parchment.

Students who have successfully completed a Certificate for Module on or after 13 April 2018 are eligible for the award of a digital badge, if the Certificate for Module is later designed as a Microcredential programme.

Digital badges for Microcredentials/Stackable Awards can be viewed and downloaded by logging in the HKU SPACE Online Universal Learning (SOUL) platform ( https://soul2.hkuspace.hku.hk), and clicking the “My Microcredentials” link embedded on the upper toolbar.

Students may apply for the stacking of related credits towards earning a Certificate/Diploma for Professional Practice or a Certificate/Diploma for General Studies within five years from the date of award of a Microcredential.  Students may also have the choice, where Microcredentials are part of a "parent" programme, that the credits be stacked within the five year period towards the parent award instead. However, such Microcredentials credits can only be stackable in one or other pathway, not both.

How to View and Download Your Digital Badge?

1. Use your web browser to access the SOUL (HKU SPACE Online Universal Learning) platform (weblink: https://soul2.hkuspace.hku.hk), then select “HKU SPACE” in User Group and click “Login”.

2. Login using your account name and password.

3. On the SOUL Main page, click “My Microcredentials” link embedded on the upper toolbar.

4. You can then view your Digital Badge Showcase. Badges for completed Microcredentials are displayed separately from those for stackable awards.

5. Earned digital badges can be downloaded by using the “click, copy and paste” functions for possible display on cv/resumes, other documents or on the social media as the awardee sees fit.
