In this talk, Dr. Chris Chan will explore the shift from traditional diagnosis to precision medicine and the impact of new technologies in medical laboratories. Dr. Chan earned his Ph.D. in the Department of Pathology, Faculty of Medicine at The University of Hong Kong. Currently, he is the Laboratory Director of the Phase Scientific Medical Laboratory.

With almost 30 years of extensive clinical experience spanning both academic and hospital settings, Dr. Chan has demonstrated a strong commitment to integrating cutting-edge technologies into clinical practice. Some of the innovative techniques he has implemented include short-read next-generation sequencing (NGS), long-read NGS, and droplet digital PCR.

More recently, Dr. Chan has been exploring the broader application of urine-based clinical tests. This includes introducing the use of urine samples for HPV testing, which may offer comparable performance to the traditional Pap smear approach. Dr. Chan also believe that urine specimen can be used in the field of oncology.

These innovations aim to improve diagnostic capabilities in medical laboratories and advance the field of medical testing.
