FAQ

 

A: Mainland and Macao applicants are required to obtain a student visa issued by the Immigration Department of the HKSAR Government to study at HKU SPACE.

A: Mainland and Macao applicants admitted to Hong Kong as dependants, or on a Permit for Proceeding to Hong Kong or Macao (One-way Permit), or issued with a valid employment visa or training visa, or under schemes such as the Quality Migrant Admission Scheme (QMAS), the Capital Investment Entrant Scheme (CIES), the Immigration Arrangement for Non-local Graduates (IANG), the Top Talent Pass Scheme (TTPS), the Admission Scheme for the Second Generation of Chinese Hong Kong  Permanent Residents (ASSG), or the New Capital Investment Entrant Scheme (New CIES) do not need prior approval before taking up full-time and part-time studies.
 

Additionally, those admitted under the Technology Talent Admission Scheme (TechTAS), Enhanced Supplementary Labour Scheme (ESLS), Sector-specific Labour Importation Schemes (SLIS), Special Scheme to Import Care Workers for Residential Care Homes (CWS), Investment for Entrepreneurs under the General Employment Policy (GEP), or Admission Scheme for Mainland Talents and Professionals (ASMTP) do not need prior approval to pursue part-time studies.

 

A student visa is not required for Mainland and Macao students who pursue an HKU SPACE academic programme conducted online or by correspondence.

A: Mainland and Macao applicants can apply for a student visa if they are admitted to a full-time or part-time locally accredited taught postgraduate programme awarded within the HKU System through HKU SPACE, or a full-time locally accredited postsecondary programme offered by the HKU SPACE Community College or the HKU SPACE Po Leung Kuk Stanley Ho Community College.

In addition to the above, Macao applicants can also apply for a student visa if they are admitted to a full-time non-local higher education or professional programme jointly offered in Hong Kong by HKU SPACE and an overseas institution.

A: Mainland and Macao applicants should immediately approach the related Programme Team to initiate the visa application process and allow at least two months for processing.

A: Mainland visitors who travel to Hong Kong on an Exit-Entry Permit for Travelling to and from Hong Kong (EPP) with a “G”, “T” or “S” endorsement, and visitors from Macao, can participate in short-term meetings, seminars, and workshops conducted in a classroom setting.

A: A person permitted to enter Hong Kong as a visitor may not be a student at a school, university, or other educational institution.

A: Admission to an HKU SPACE academic programme does not guarantee the issuance of a student visa.
