College of Life Sciences and Technology Open Day 2019Event Recap
The College of Life Sciences and Technology Open Day 2019 was successfully held on 23 November 2019. Nineteen seminars on two main themes of Health and Technology were featured. The highlight of the event was the keynote talk “Blockchain Adoption Today”. The College was delighted to have guest speakers Mr. Alan Cheung from the Hong Kong Applied Science and Technology Research Institute (ASTRI) and Mr. Emil Chan from the CSG Consultancy to share their insights on how Blockchain is being used across different sectors and give examples of which industries are deriving the most value from Blockchain.
We are also pleased to have Dr. Edmond Ma (Director of Clinical & Molecular Pathology, Hong Kong Sanatorium & Hospital) who gave an enlightening talk about the Future of Genomics in Laboratory Medicine to an enthusiastic audience in the biomedical profession.
Other popular sessions included “Sports Nutrition: Basics, Myths and Facts”, “Exercise and Wellbeing for Active Ageing”, “中醫陰陽體質判定與保健” and “Fight Simulation and Virtual Reality (VR) Demonstration”. All were well-received by the participants.
Our academic staff introduced programmes on Aviation, Advanced Technology and Computing; Biomedical Sciences; Chinese Medicine; Dietetics, Food and Nutrition; Sports, Exercise and Recreation Management and Wellness and Healthcare.
In addition, Chinese Medicine free health counsel and herbal tea booth were arranged by the Chinese Medicine Clinics and Pharmacy.
