Nursing as a profession has a strong focus on the health care of the person, the family, and the community. It supports and sustains the promotion and maintenance of health. A generally extended life span, emergence of new diseases, growing awareness of health care and new medical technologies and research, have called for new expectations and expanding needs on the nursing and health care professionals.

 

In line with the School's tradition in providing excellent quality education, Nursing Studies & Healthcare has been offering a comprehensive choice of awards and non-award-bearing nursing and health care programmes in the past decade. We offer pre-registration nursing programme, health services management and specialty nursing programmes such as gastroenterology, renal nursing, oncology and palliative care and enterostomal therapy, as well as elderly care and physiotherapy courses.

King's College London

The Master of Science in Clinical Nursing (MSc Clinical Nursing)* is the first collaborative programme between HKU SPACE and King’s College London. It is a 2-year part-time master’s degree programme to offer Hong Kong students the opportunity to obtain a master’s degree award from King’s College London (King’s), which was ranked 1st in the UK and 1st in the world in the subject of Nursing (QS World University Rankings by Subject 2025). Hong Kong graduates will become King’s alumni, enhancing their career prospects, networking opportunities and global exposure. In addition, students will gain insights into the use of digital strategies in healthcare and be able to engage with institutional and wider cultures that promote patient safety.

Specifically, the programme targets at nurses seeking to advance their nursing practice in oncology and palliative care. It also aims to enable healthcare professionals (such as radiographers, dietitians, social workers, clinical psychologists, physiotherapists, occupational therapists, pharmacists, speech therapists, Chinese medicine practitioners, etc.) to advance their professional development within the specialty of oncology care.
